    As a Chaplain you are a member of the hospice team with advanced training in theology and/or psychology who is able to provide a wide range of supportive services to people from a variety of religious backgrounds and experiences during a time of crisis in their lives.


    Assisting in Mass and Southern NH area





    • Provides spiritual support to patients and families, contacts all patients/families by phone within 3 days and completes a Spiritual Assessment Form withing 5 caledar days of admission.
    • Based on assessment and patient /family wishes, provides spiritual support in a nonjudgmental manner.
    • Documents all documentation per procedure including visits, telephone calls, assessments, interventions, responses to interventions, and communications.
    • Communicate patient/family reports concisely and effectively to team.
    • Participates in family conferences and serve as a liaison with the patient’s spiritual community leader.
    • Assists with funeral and memorial services when requested and collaborate effectively with other members of IDT.
    • Understands family dynamics and works effectively within various types of family systems.
    • Demonstrates ability to act as a team player. Provides peers with support and mentoring if appropriate.
    • Utilizes resources appropriately. Accurately assess need for additional services.
    • Demonstrates the ability to act as a patient and family advocate. Provides information to families about all available resources.
    • Performs adequate number of chaplain visits necessary to provide superior hospice care under MVH standards.
    • Performs in a professional manner at all times and manage caseload efficiently and effectively.
    • Involves Clinical Manager in situations appropriately.
    • Demonstrates understanding of how to maintain professional boundaries with patients and families.
    • Utilizes good customer service skills internally and externally, assist in orientation of new staff, mentor students when requested and pursue standards of excellence as a hospice chaplain.
    • Works with Clinical Manager to identify opportunities for improvement in performance and works to address them.
    • Proactive in increasing knowledge of hospice care and standards of practice. Assist with hospice education and memorial services in community.
    • Assists with hospice education and memorial services in community and participate in achieving MVH goals and objectives.
    • Represents MVH and promotes hospice care in the community and with other professionals.


    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in religion/theology, pastoral care, human services or psychology or advanced certification in a spiritual ministry such as Clinical Pastorial Education or Chaplaincy.
    • Some field experience in ministry.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of and sensitivity to, the spiritual issues expressed by the terminally ill and their familieies.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the grieving process.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the Hospice philosophy of health care delivery.
    • Ability to be open, flexible and ecumenical in ministry.
