    The Strategic Communications Manager works to develop strategic communication plans and programs designed to elevate internal communications, recruitment, brand and marketing and donor engagement. The Manager will work cross-functionally to develop programs and engage employees, support internal and external marketing initiatives and may represent the organization at community and charitable events.

    In collaboration with the Vice President, this position will develop and maintain a communications strategy and corresponding activities to reach goals of the organization’s senior leadership team for overall corporate positioning, employee hiring, retention and employee engagement, community awareness and services and stewardship of existing donor base.     • Collaborate with, develop and guide junior staff in best practices of communication, marketing, and philanthropy, leveraging key skillsets within the department to gain the cross functional benefit of department activities.
    • Develop and administer communication programs and initiatives to foster engagement of internal and external stakeholders. Assist in the implementation of engagement campaigns.
    • Working in partnership with the Vice President and Human Resources to identity and address opportunities for staff morale building, recruiting opportunities, and consistency of communication across multiple platforms.
    • Provide advice and training to management on the use of internal communications.
    • Enhance and update the website for Home Health Foundation resulting in increased traffic to the site, meaningful points of engagement, extend awareness, and build brand for the organization.
    • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communication mediums, such as “Workplace”, monthly newsletter or special edition bulletins.
    • Assess stewardship efforts and find ways to further engage existing and potential major donors in continued support and ambassadorship.
    • Attend donor meetings, initiate major donor calls, and participate in other events during and after business hours to foster relationships and attract major donor giving.
    • Serve as key committee member in groups such as Friends of Merrimack Valley, etc.
    • Provide writing, scripting and communication consultation to members of executive management and board of trustees.
    • Oversee the management of outside vendors including but not limited to website developers, designers, photographers, copywriters, video producers, recruiting agencies, information technology staff, and others related to the development, management and execution of work to support communications.


    • Bachelor degree or higher in communications, English, journalism, or related field required.
    • 5+ years expertise in both internal and external communications across a range of media audiences including web, print, community engagement activities, video and integrated marketing.
    • Exceptional writing skills and command of compelling, response-oriented language.
    • Ability to solicit and manage relationships with major donors.
    • Proven success in philanthropic programming, preferably in local healthcare or human services.
    • Experience developing and maintaining internal communications efforts such as staff newsletters, communications platforms, engagement activities, recruiting efforts and employee alignment.
    • Ability to establish processes and approaches for consistent communications and best practice standards across organizations of 500+ employees.
    • Proven ability to work with staff from every level of the organization from a Board of Trustees and c-suite to entry level staff with positive and successful outcomes and relationship development.
    • Working knowledge and experience with MS-Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Explorer.
    • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge including target segmentation, outcomes measurement.
