The Bookkeeping Clerk will perform general bookkeeping functions in a professional, timely and accurate manner, while putting forth a positive agency image and participating in all mandatory inservices.

• Receives checks daily and ensures all are accounted for by comparing them to check log. Makes a tape total of checks, completes the deposit slip and compares the total to the tape and ensures they are the same, for all companies.
• Posts cash receipts to the correct patient accounts and miscellaneous general ledger accounts on the STAT and Healthwyse systems. Reconciles daily postings to the deposit slip and reconciles any variances on a timely basis.
• Accurately maintains a spreadsheet log of all other 3rd party receipts, Medicare payments, Medicaid payments and miscellaneous receipts that tie to the total deposits. Prints the report weekly and forwards a copy to the Accounting Manager.
• Periodically receives Medicare electronic remittance advices and does the following: Posts all remittances to patients' accounts on the Healthwyse (VNA) and   STAT (MVH) systems. Works with the Billing Department to correct patient accounts that do not agree with the remittance advices, so that those remittance advices can be posted. Ensures that all remittances are posted and closed on STAT and Healthwyse systems within 3 days of receipt.
• Works on various reports and projects as directed by the Accounting Manager, on an as needed basis.
• Assists MVH biller with assigned responsibilities such as 81a’s and insurance verification.
• Maintains an overall knowledge of the Accounting Department's functions, thinks and acts independently to resolve problems or to bring them to the attention of management for their resolution. Keeps in mind the overall efficient functioning of the Accounting Department, and strives to keep it that way.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the CQI process, and understanding of what to report to the supervisor or Director of Quality Improvement when concerns of corporate compliance arise.
• Ensures compliance within guidelines set forth by regulatory agencies (JCAHO, DPH, ERISA etc.) and demonstrates compliance with Home Health Foundation policies and procedures.
• Practices confidentiality principles set by the agency and federal HIPAA guidelines and maintains professionalism with colleagues, peers and customers. 

• Two year Business Degree preferred.
• Two years related experience.
