Overview

Merrimack Valley High Pointe House located on 39 beautiful, wooded acres in Haverhill, MA, provides a comfortable, welcoming home-like alternative for patients in need of specialized end-of-life care. With twenty-one private suites, our goal is to ensure the High Pointe House is available to patients and families when time is most precious. One of only two inpatient hospice facilities in Massachusetts licensed to care for children as well as adults, Merrimack Valley High Pointe House addresses these complex medical needs with compassion and dignity. It is a place for patients and families to spend their last days together in peace, comfort and security.

 

As a Culinary Services Cook you will prepare meals in the High Pointe House Kitchen. **This is a Per Diem opportunity with 12 hour shifts 6am to 5 pm. Shifts can be split. Usually need coverage 2 times a month. Coverage for full week vacation schedules desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Handles and prepares food per current standards of practice and state/federal regulations.
  • Prepares patient meal trays per menu and/or patient request/needs utilizing optimal presentation skills.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen work areas after meal preparation.
  • Maintains ServSafe Certification.
  • Assists with unpacking and storage of delivered food.
  • Utilizes strong customer service skills with patients, families and visitors.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with patients and families.
  • Team player with other culinary services staff.
  • Prompt and dependable per work schedule.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience preparing food in a healthcare facility.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations in food service environment.
  • Knowledge of current dietary standards of practice.
  • ServSafe Certification.
  • Strong attendance record in work history.
  • Able to read printed words in English.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and writing).
  • Physically capable of performing the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and bend for extended periods of time.
